o free Text over IP

aql, has today announced that it is the UK’s first VoIP infrastructure provider to allow customers to send and receive free text messages
over it’s VoIP network and has also opened up it’s network to receive text messages from other VoIP providers. The new service allows free,
unlimited calls and text messages to be sent and received over the Internet between message-enabled VoIP handsets, while outbound SMS
or calls to GSM handsets are priced competitively.

This new service marks aql's entry into the peer-to-peer messaging arena. The aql VoIP network, unlike that of many of its' competitors, supports
the transmission of text messages both to other VoIP handsets and to gsm mobiles. The service is compatible with the aql retail products and also
our wholesale services.

aql are recruiting channel partners as a primary route to market. However, interested parties may also trial the service via :

mobile voip

What does this mean ?

It means that if you buy a compatible handset and your friends buy compatible handsets, you can talk and send messages to each other for free as
long as you have WiFi access.

aql can now offer significant incentives to customers sending SMS to BT landlines, effectively bringing the cost of messaging to BT landlines down to
3.2 pence + vat per message.

In order to qualify for this pricing you must only send to landlines from a "real" numeric originator (eg 08003895815) and to send over 2000 messages per
month to BT numbers.

Once you are subscribed to this scheme, aql will calculate your monthly usage and credit your account with additional messages to effectively reduce

As part of aql's ongoing commitment to interoperability with other networks (voice, data and mobile messaging), aql have opened up their Voice network
to interconnected partners allowing VoIP (voice and messaging) into and out of the aql network without charge.

Unlike many VoIP providers who can only offer Voice peering between networks, aql can offer both voice and messaging. Third party networks interested in
interconnecting with aql, please contact us via voip peering
